Communication That Connects: Understanding Verbal and Nonverbal Signals
***This workshop has reached max capacity. If you would like to be added to the waitlist, please email your name, organization, and the workshop name to CCNWebinars@carecompassnetwork.org.***
Communication is more than the words we use. It’s how we show up, how we listen, and how we understand what others are communicating without saying a word. This interactive workshop uses guided, hands-on exercises to help participants strengthen real-world communication skills they can use immediately in both professional and everyday conversations.
What’s in it for you?
Through guided, hands-on practice, you will learn how to:
- Read body language and other nonverbal cues
- Communicate your thoughts clearly and effectively
- Express yourself with greater confidence
- Better understand what others may be feeling or trying to communicate
- Respond more effectively in real-life conversations
This is an active learning experience designed to help you practice skills you can use right away. All activities are optional, and you are encouraged to participate at your comfort level. You may step in or out at any time.
Because the workshop includes standing and light movement, please wear comfortable, non-heeled footwear and clothing that allows you to move easily. Business attire is not required.
Come ready to practice, build confidence, and strengthen the communication skills that help you connect.
Facilitator: Professor Stephen Hinkle
Stephen Hinkle is the Director of Theatre and Music at Morrisville State College and a communication educator who uses theater as a powerful tool for building real-world interpersonal skills. His work focuses on helping individuals develop self-confidence, communicate with integrity, recognize emotion, and understand what is being communicated both verbally and nonverbally.
Through highly interactive, workshop-style scenarios, Stephen transforms the art of theater into a practical learning experience focused on communication, presence, and active listening. Participants in his sessions do not simply learn about communication. They practice it in a supportive environment that builds awareness and confidence.
