This six-hour interactive workshop introduces participants to Motivational Interviewing (MI), an evidence-based, person-centered communication approach designed to strengthen motivation and commitment to change. Participants will explore the spirit of MI (partnership, acceptance, compassion, and empowerment), practice core skills (open questions, affirmations, reflections, summaries), and learn how to respond effectively to ambivalence. Emphasis is placed on ethical, trauma-responsive, and culturally attuned communication applicable across social work settings.
