Finding a recovery community that feels supportive, welcoming, and empowering can make all the difference in someone’s recovery journey. That is the heart behind AIR—Adventures in Recovery, a Recovery Community Organization (RCO) built for peers, by peers, and dedicated to providing a safe, sober, and inclusive space where individuals can heal, grow, and thrive.

AIR’s mission is simple yet transformative: to offer meaningful connections, peer support, and memorable experiences through adventure, wellness, and community-focused events. For many, recovery can feel isolating—but AIR proves it doesn’t have to be.

What Is AIR?

AIR is a sober active community grounded in human connection. Its programs bring people in recovery together with others who share similar lived experiences, creating camaraderie, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Whether someone is new to recovery or years into their journey, AIR welcomes individuals, their families, and anyone committed to healthy, substance-free living.

What makes AIR especially powerful is that every aspect of the program is shaped by people with lived experience. The staff and volunteers understand the realities of substance use and mental health challenges. They know how important it is to have positive outlets—and how healing it can be to laugh, move, create, and connect with others who truly understand.

AIR focuses on four pillars that guide everything they do:

  • Educate the public about the realities of recovery.
  • Advocate for the needs and voices of the recovery community.
  • Offer peer recovery support services that meet individuals where they are.
  • Provide a thriving social recovery network built around shared experiences.

The only requirement to attend any AIR event is 48 hours of continuous sobriety. Friends, family, and supportive community members are always welcome. And importantly—all AIR programs are completely free.

Recovery in Action

Recovery is far more than abstaining from substances; it is a lifelong process of growth and healing. AIR embraces a holistic definition of recovery—one that includes improving well-being, strengthening emotional resilience, building healthy relationships, and discovering inner confidence.

For many participants, AIR becomes a place where recovery comes alive. Through adventure, movement, and meaningful connection, individuals can work toward:

  • Improved quality of life and wellness
  • Consistent pursuit of abstinence
  • Relief from cravings and symptoms
  • Stronger behavioral control
  • Increased social connectedness
  • Enhanced emotional regulation

Recovery is not a finish line—it is a journey. And AIR provides the community needed to walk that journey with strength and support.
