More Than a Team: Celebrating Seven Years of Belonging, Courage, and Care at RTIC

Written by Bouakham Rosetti, Senior Project Manager and Program Director of the CCN Regional Trauma-Informed Care (RTIC) Network

As the RTIC Program Director, I have had the privilege of witnessing this team grow not just in numbers or initiatives, but in depth, integrity, and humanity. For seven years, RTIC has stood as a reminder that change begins with people who choose to show up fully – with courage, honesty, and care for one another. Watching each of them embody that truth has been one of the greatest honors of my career.

What continues to inspire me is not just the work we do, but the way we do it. This team creates space where others might look away, seeks truth where others might settle for status quo, and shows compassion where the world too often encourages distance. They remind me every day that community is not an abstract concept – it is something we actively build, protect, and nurture together.

Quote "No egos, no politics. Just true vulnerability and connection. RTIC demonstrates true synergistic work that results in stellar results."As reflected by one of our RTIC team members, Raini MacGibbon, Chenango Health Network:

“Initially, I was asked to join the team to take the commitment from someone else’s plate. My serendipitous finding was a group of dedicated, committed, and intentional professional colleagues who truly believe in and live this work. Learning that these connections are possible on this level makes me hopeful for the future and energized to bring the work into both my personal and professional life. No egos, no politics. Just true vulnerability and connection. RTIC demonstrates true synergistic work that results in stellar results. I am humbled and honored to sit among you all.

At the core of the RTIC community is something simple and deeply human: people want to be valued, and people want to belong. RTIC lives out that truth in the way we listen, support one another, and create space for people to show up exactly as they are.

As shared by Emily Davies, her experience captured this essence so beautifully. . I am enough. I am exactly as I should be. I don’t have to reshape myself to belong or prove my worth by how much I can carry.

“Spending time with the RTIC team has taught me something I didn’t know how to believe before. I am enough. I am exactly as I should be. I don’t have to reshape myself to belong or prove my worth by how much I can carry. Fully showing up as I am, authentically and without apology, is everything. In the middle of grief, in the middle of change, in the middle of learning how to stop taking care of everyone else before taking care of myself, this team has given me space to soften, to connect, and to begin healing in a way that feels real. RTIC is community. The RTIC Team shows up when others are willing to turn a blind eye towards diversity and truth. This environment allows people to be exactly who they are, where they are at and in whatever form they need to be in.

This reflection is more than a personal sentiment. It is a testament to who we are together. It speaks to the power of valuing people for who they are, not just for what they produce. It highlights the strength that comes from vulnerability, authenticity, and shared responsibility. And it reminds us why creating spaces of belonging is not only meaningful but necessary.

As I reflect on these seven years, I am filled with gratitude. Gratitude for the trust they place in one another. Gratitude for the courage they bring. Gratitude for the way each one of us shows up – not flawlessly, but genuinely.

Thank you for making RTIC a space where truth is welcomed, where humanity is centered, and where belonging can exist. Thank you for reminding me, every single day, why this work matters. Happy 7th Anniversary Care Compass Network RTIC Team!
